Nita Tin’s story is one of resilience, faith, and God’s unfailing love. Born into an aristocratic Burmese family in Rangoon, Myanmar, she grew up in a Buddhist home and later came to faith in Christ. Nita’s early life was one of opulence and luxury – until political unrest, civil war, and personal loss changed everything.

In 1974, Nita and her husband, Pe, fled the oppression of Burma with their two young children. They were only allowed to leave with twenty dollars, and they arrived in the United States almost destitute, trusting that God would provide and lead them into a new life of freedom.

As a professional, Nita was Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Tin Laser Vision Center and the Aesthetic and Wellness Spa, and served for more than 45 years as Practice Administrator for her husband’s ophthalmology practice, Tin Surgery and Diseases of the Eye. Her leadership experience in both business and ministry has given her a unique perspective that resonates with audiences across professional and faith-based settings. At the same time, she nurtured their family of two children and invested deeply in church and community life.

For more than five decades, Nita has been known as an avid motivational speaker and one of the most sought-after voices for her uplifting messages of hope and victory.

She has shared her story in a wide variety of settings: business and civic clubs, Lions’ Clubs, public schools, Christian schools, women’s retreats, and prayer circles. She has ministered in churches throughout Chattanooga, Alabama, and North Georgia. In the aftermath of 9/11 and the collapse of the Twin Towers in New York, she was invited to speak at a large women’s banquet in North Georgia, where she brought comfort and hope to women living in the shadow of national tragedy.

Nita was also invited to a combined All-Faith Forum in Knoxville, Tennessee, sponsored by a Muslim committee and led by an Imam. There, she joined in an open discussion of faith and shared her unique story of God’s love and redemption. She has also led a three-day women’s retreat for five combined Chattanooga and North Georgia churches in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where her series of messages invited women to Come into the Garden of God’s Heart for a deeper walk with Him.

Her international ministry has taken her to Sydney, Australia; Quormi, Malta; and Kathmandu, Nepal. In Nepal, she was invited by a worldwide discipleship ministry to speak at a four-day training conference for more than 1,100 church planters, offering biblical teaching and encouragement to leaders serving in one of the most challenging regions of the world.

She has also spoken at A Better Way Ministries in Peachtree City, Georgia, a residential program for men overcoming life-controlling issues, where her message centered on hope, encouragement, freedom, purpose, and forgiveness for the child of God. She was chosen as one of four featured storytellers at Trilith and was invited to speak at the Trilith Studio Community Fellowship in Fayetteville, Georgia, where she connected her journey of faith and resilience with new audiences.

Nita’s story has opened doors to nationally recognized platforms, each one shaping her reputation as a trusted speaker:

  • At Focus on the Family with Dr. James and Shirley Dobson, she shared her testimony of courage and God’s faithfulness with families from across the country.

  • As Lead Speaker at the National Young Women’s Christian Conference, she addressed hundreds of young women, challenging them to root their lives in Christ and live with integrity.

  • With the Scenic City Women’s Network, she has been a frequent guest, offering encouragement to Christian women in business and ministry. In 2023, they publicly recognized her as an Extraordinary Working Christian Woman with their prestigious Lydia Impact Award.

  • She has been invited several times by Shirley Dobson to the National Day of Prayer breakfast in Washington, D.C., a gathering of national leaders and intercessors from across the country.

  • Internationally, she has addressed diverse audiences, from church planters in Nepal to multicultural congregations in Australia and Malta, bringing a message of resilience and hope that transcends culture and language.

In addition to her speaking ministry, Nita has built a writing legacy that spans memoir, Bible studies, dramatic works, devotionals, and articles – each reflecting her desire to draw believers closer to God’s heart.

She is the author of Heartbeat of a Survivor: From Golden Pagodas to a Soul Set Free, her memoir recounting her journey from oppression to freedom in Christ, originally published as A Love That Could Not Let Me Go. A second edition is now available in print, e-book, and audio, published by Heartbeat of a Survivor, LLC. The memoir is currently being developed into a screenplay for an epic movie.

Nita has also written and taught Bible studies, including Acts: Empowered to Live for Jesus, which she taught in weekly classroom sessions, Rise Up and Shine, The Refiner’s Fire, Be Still My Soul, and The Making of a Virtuous Woman. Her dramatic works include Desperate for You, a motivational and inspirational musical vignette (in which she played the lead role), and an Easter soliloquy portraying a Jewish believer at the foot of the cross. Earlier works also include children’s plays and youth dramas, including Shine for Jesus and The Crown of Glory.

Her devotionals and articles have been published in The Promises of God (Scenic City Women’s Network) and in her column, Nita's Nook, for Grace Sunday School Class Newsletter and Bayside Church Ladies Newsletter.

Individual devotionals include Lord, Hide Me in the Secret Place, I Have Nowhere Else to Go; Finding Joy in the Midst of Pain; The Potter and the Clay; The Refiner’s Fire; Lord, Empty Me of Me So I Can Be Filled with You; Joy in the Marketplace; Christ My Only Hope; and Learning to Pray Through God’s Word. In addition, her letters of encouragement and heart-warming lectures have ministered to hundreds of Bible students, friends, colleagues, and patients.

She is currently at work on two new manuscripts: I Wish There Was No Such Thing as Cancer!, a reflection on walking through her family’s pain and experiencing God’s sustaining grace, and Heartbreak of a Survivor: The Love You Left Behind, a work born out of the loss of her husband and soulmate of 60 years.

Beyond speaking and writing, Nita expresses her creativity as an artisan through her Faith, Hope, Love jewelry collection. Each bead is carefully chosen, designed, and handmade, prayed over for the person who will one day wear it.

Encouraging believers to walk daily in the love and freedom of Christ has been Nita’s passion for over 50 years. She describes herself as “an emptied, broken vessel, saved to tell of the glorious gospel of Christ.” The journey to our eternal home is her theme, and her message is always hope, strength, and encouragement for the child of God traveling through the pain and hopelessness of a fallen world, and God’s offer of victory, freedom, and salvation for those still trapped in sin’s darkness.

Nita is a graduate of the University of Rangoon, Burma, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Cum Laude with Honors in English Literature and Language.

Her life verse is found in Jeremiah 33:3: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.” God’s unending love is what she pours out through her life and ministry as she seeks to draw believers closer to bask in the love of a heavenly Father.

Today, Nita continues to inspire audiences with her tender yet courageous voice. Whether speaking to a small group of women or addressing international conferences, she shares with authenticity, humility, and strength. Her message remains the same: God is faithful, His love never fails, and there is always hope in Christ.
